like a number of small villages in Bavaria
they have no traffic or parking problems
and the quality of life is excellent

it's the same scene with a new firehouse at the right front

the same house with a minivan parked out
front
returning to this village after 50 years is like a time warp
except for the modern automobiles everywhere

the minivan definitely looks like a Volkswagen

our Bavarian historian Walter Fuchs identified these two boys
Franz Furtner (on the left) and Ludwig Stadler (deceased)
Franz (Frank) is now living in
Rochester NY
we contact him frequently

check the background in the (left) picture
a new building has been added between the house and barn
and some modern garbage cans out front

Jutta Frammersberger lives near Pörndorf in Aldersbach
she recognized her mother Betty Bellman
and her younger brother Richard Bellman
Betty is the lady on the left side of the
fence
her son is the boy in the dark suit
the Pörndorf firehouse is new with different
doors

behold the barn behind the "honey dipper" cart
today these carts are aluminum
pulled by green John Deere tractors

sitting around and having your picture taken
is a favorite activity of occupation troops
the man on the left has a
"liberated" camera in his right hand
it looks like an expensive one perhaps a Leica

the building behind the men
is now a Metzgerei (butcher's shop)

did anyone in your outfit try to stab the cook
here it was a hopeless standoff

American soldiers "liberated" German cameras
because they were not allowed to loot
does the soldier on the right look like he would steal
this pair of wooden shoes to send home as a souvenir

737 hadn't turned in its equipment yet
everything finally went to the Nuremberg motor pool
when the outfit became an amphibian tractor unit
looks like the soldier on the right has a camera
